Atlanta Photography Group presents “Sweet Dreams and Nightmares”, a solo exhibition of new work by artist Rose Barron in APG’s Maloof Gallery. Creating her own tableaus inspired by historic paintings and literary references, Barron presents women in scenes that defy our expectations about gender, age and sexuality. Barron’s tableaus flaunt a contemporary desire for lush excesses alongside ancient themes found in folklore and mythology, such as love, betrayal and salvation. Don’t miss Barron’s artist talk on Saturday, October 12 at 7:30pm.
Rose Barron’s photography/video, and multimedia art work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across the US as well as internationally. Her work is included in several private and public collections. Rose has been awarded numerous artist residencies. Currently, Barron works at the Art Institute of Atlanta as a part-time adjunct professor in the Foundations and Photography Department. She has a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Georgia, an MA in Photo Concentration from Georgia State University, and an MFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Photography.
